Quack the Case: Duck Detective Returns in The Ghost of Glamping

Eugene McQuacklin is back on the case—and I couldn’t wait to dive in! The second Duck Detective mystery had a lot to live up to, and thankfully, it does not disappoint.

I finally got my hands on this game after seeing it go on sale on Steam. I decided to play it on Mac, instead of the Nintendo Switch, because that’s how I played the first game (check out my review of “The Secret Salami”). I started the game, and to no one’s surprise, I finished it in one go.

The Gameplay

Just like in The Secret Salami, this follow-up keeps the charming point-and-click style and the signature “fill in the blanks” mechanic to solve clues and move the story forward. It’s super user-friendly—you can always check your notebook or the map to track where characters are and who still has something to say.

I found the puzzles more intuitive this time, and since I already knew the gameplay loop, I breezed through it in just under two hours.

Voice Acting & The Story

The full voice cast really brings this quirky mystery to life—each character sounds exactly how you’d imagine, full of charm and personality. It adds depth to the story and makes every interaction feel more dynamic.

In he last game we saw Eugene deal with a case that had an entire office involved. This time, he will have to dive into a haunted glamping site and see if he can solve a case. He will not only be dealing with the other campers (like an anxiey ridden manager, an sttressed out assistant, a glamorous influencer and a military mom), but with supernatural entities as well!

And speaking of story: there were moments that genuinely surprised me. Usually I can spot a twist a mile away, but this game threw in a few clever turns I didn’t see coming!

I love how the Duck Detective now has an assistant and how they’re developing their relationship. This is what truly tied the bow on top of the game, for me.

My Opinion

This was a really good game. I honestly want them to make more of these short-but-sweet detective games. I need more McQuacklin in my life, but the world also deserves to follow Eugene’s crazy cases!

Now the wait for the next chapter begins…

The Ghost of Glamping is a fantastic follow-up: smart, silly, and satisfying. It doesn’t overstay its welcome, and I honestly hope we get more from Eugene and his new assistant soon. Final verdict? 9/10 – bite-sized detective brilliance!
