The past two weeks in Helldivers 2 have been chaotic — Xbox recruits joining, surprise collabs, new warbonds, and, of course, the usual dose of game-breaking bugs (both digital and insect). Overwhelming? Yep. Exciting? Definitely. Let’s dive into my half fangirl / half rant impressions.☺️

The Halo ODST x Helldivers 2 Collaboration
As fellow Halo players, Michael and I were both surprised and sooo looking forward to this new collab! It had been quite some time since the last warbond, and I had already capped the samples.
I’d saved up 1,495 super credits — practically glowing with pride because it meant I could snag the Halo warbond instantly. Then a tiny thought crossed my mind: ‘What if they set it at 1,500? 🤔 Nah… no way.’ Cue my not-so-surprised face when it turned out to be exactly that. I was 5 super credits short, but I got them after playing two rounds.

I get it — the price hike makes sense for a special collab. But a few things ruffled my feathers. Surprise: no super credits in this warbond? Seriously, what’s up with that?! Every warbond usually gives some back, and now it feels like they’re making it harder (maybe impossible) to save for the next one.
What they missed out on or could release later on
On paper, the Halo warbond sounds amazing — iconic weapons, ODST armor… but a few glaring fan favorites are MIA. For example: where’s the Red vs Blue armor? We only got the A9 Helljumper and A-35 Recon (Blue). And don’t even get me started on the lack of an Energy Sword. That would’ve been the perfect melee weapon — slicing through bugs, lighting up caves, and making us all feel just a little more epic.

Talking it over with Michael, I joked: ‘I need a banshee. We can call it in like we do a jeep, right? What’s stopping them from giving us a mission where we defend planets, reverse-engineer the Illuminate’s stingray tech, and—boom—we’ve got banshees!’ I’m not saying they should hand us all the Halo toys, but it feels like a missed opportunity we’d happily grind together for.
Overall, we’re okay with this warbond (Michael’s definitely happier than I am). But honestly, if you’re not a big Halo fan, your money or credits might be better spent on another bond you’ll use more. Since I’ve been playing from the start, I’ve unlocked the older ones just by collecting super credits over time. For newcomers, though, I’d recommend checking some videos first to see what each warbond offers before spending your hard-earned credits.

Xbox players joining the Super Earth cause
The past few weeks have been a blast. I’ve mostly been dropping into level 4 maps, looking to help out recruits in the rank 0–20 range. (Once players hit 30+, they usually have things under control.)
I’ve made it my little mission to guide the new recruits: pointing out that those ‘diamond’ icons on the map usually mean there’s still a sample left, or letting them test out heavy-hitters like the Autocannon or GL-52 De-Escalator.

To help them out even more, I always take the Sample Scanner booster — it gives a 15% chance to double any sample you pick up. As a new helldiver, grinding for Ship Modules can feel brutal (I remember scrambling across every map myself), so this little boost can make a huge difference. The only time I swap it out is for quick Blitz missions, where the Experimental Infusion booster makes dashing around way more fun.

Honestly? Helping greenhorns has been one of the most wholesome parts of this update. A lot of them are genuinely trying, and I’ve even turned my mic on a few times to explain things instead of pecking away at my PS5 controller. 😅 From what I’ve seen so far, these Xbox recruits are shaping up to be some solid helldivers.
Into the Unjust Update
Oh, how we’ve been waiting for this update… only to get this. Classic Arrowhead. There I was, loadout ready, mid-hype, about to drop into the fight—when, right before I landed, the game crashed.
Was I surprised? Not really. Sadly, Helldivers crashing mid-session has become its own ‘tradition.’ Doesn’t matter if I’m with Michael, friends, or just randoms—the game occasionally throws a tantrum and nopes out.
Alright, fine. Restart. Round two. I deploy into a level 4 mission, first cave looks amazing—twisting tunnels, easy to get lost in (thank goodness for the map). I was hunting down a rattler’s nest (aka Stalker nest) and managed to clear it out… except for one sneaky Stalker that literally yeeted me into a wall. Yes, INTO, not against. I was stuck like a bug in amber. Grenaded myself, got reinforced, and we carried on. Smooth enough… so far.

Later, Michael got home, and we jumped into a level 5 together. Just the two of us. Easy, right? We had the side missions done and went for the big one: Destroy the Spore Lung. It was in a cave, a perfect setup. We called in the portable hellbomb… once, twice, thrice… nothing. It either didn’t land or spawned in Narnia. We tried outside the cave. Nada. At this point, we were sprouting moss. Finally, I remembered I’d called one in earlier, so I ran back, grabbed it, handed it to Michael, and he heroically delivered it. Big boom. Gorgeous explosion. Spore Lung still standing. facepalm.
Michael is going to take a break from Helldivers for a bit, and I’m going to try out some of the other missions out there. I’m interested in seeing the earthworm/graboid (Tremors reference) and the dragons! I’m not saying I will love the experience, but I definitely want to live it.
Premium Warbond – Dust Devils
Ah, the Premium Warbond — Dust Devils. This is the one I’m saving my super credits for. I’ve got 545 tucked away, but since this one’s ‘premium,’ I honestly have no clue what absurd price tag to expect anymore (it’s 1,000 super credits).
What I’m most excited about? The M5-11 Solo Silo. Imagine green-dotting a Charger, then watching a missile glide down and gently kiss its forehead—boom. Poetic justice. After months of being bullied by Chargers, it’s about time they start fearing me.

The S-11 Speargun also caught my eye. Cool concept, but I want more. Give me the electrified version—basically a handheld Tesla tower. Shock the bugs, light up the caves, double as an eco-friendly bug zapper. Tell me that wouldn’t be amazing.
That said, these warbonds are dropping way too close together. It’s overwhelming, even for veterans. I’d love to see smaller, cheaper ones—say, 450 credits—with themed sets spread throughout the month. Like, imagine a ‘Halo Master Chief Collection’ split into Part 1 and Part 2. It’d stretch out the hype and stop us from capping medals so quickly. Just a thought… but a good one, right?

And because the universe likes to kick you when you’re down, my controller also decided to start drifting. So now I’ve got a shiny new one, but honestly? I think I’ll be taking it slow with Helldivers for a while.
Tried playing with a friend on Thursday — invites didn’t show up, he never appeared in-game, and Sony wouldn’t even let us start a group chat. Classic. At this point, I think every Helldiver knows the pain.
Still, as frustrated as I am, I can’t stay mad at this game. I love it too much. We’ll just have to be patient and hope the next patches fix the bugs… so we can get back to killing the actual bugs. 🪲💥
What about you? Have you had any hilarious (or rage-inducing) mishaps lately? Are you powering through or taking a break until things stabilize? Drop your stories in the comments — I’d love to hear them! Until then, see you out there… or in the next blog!
